{"id":5394,"date":"2022-03-21T13:29:52","date_gmt":"2022-03-21T13:29:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nottssvss.org.uk\/consent-coalition\/?p=5394"},"modified":"2022-07-21T15:33:31","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T14:33:31","slug":"a-z-consent-arrives-nottingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nottssvss.org.uk\/consent-coalition\/a-z-consent-arrives-nottingham\/","title":{"rendered":"The A-Z of Consent Arrives in Nottingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1658406432230{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]<strong>The A-Z of Consent Arrives in Nottingham<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1658413624894{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]Nottingham today saw the launch of a tram and a bus covered in the A-Z of Consent.\u00a0 The vehicles feature different words from the <a href=\"https:\/\/nottssvss.org.uk\/consent-coalition\/campaigns\/az-consent\/\">A-Z of Consent<\/a>, with search words to find the wider resource online, including <a href=\"https:\/\/nottssvss.org.uk\/consent-coalition\/campaigns\/az-consent\/az-consent-posters\/\">downloadable posters<\/a>, awareness raising resources and <a href=\"https:\/\/nottssvss.org.uk\/consent-coalition\/support-and-reporting\/adults\">support information<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the project is to encourage bold conversations on consent, in turn making sexual violence more easy to identify and less socially accepted.\u00a0 The campaign provides key facts for each letter of the alphabet to address a multitude of consent themes that have been identified during the past 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the bus and tram, the backs of two other buses are also being covered with the words \u2018Kiss\u2019 \u2013 because a Kiss is not a contract and does not mean you have to do anything else and \u2018Ultimatum.\u2019\u00a0 Posters have also been put up in strategically placed tram stops and will remain in place for the next year.<\/p>\n<p>The project was funded with money secured by the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry following a survey that was run in Autumn 2021.\u00a0 It is one of several projects aimed at raising awareness and creating conversations around consent and acceptable behaviour.\u00a0 Other projects also funded include the Safe Space Pledge and training for venue staff and bystander intervention training.<\/p>\n<p>Supporting the campaign, Commissioner Henry said: \u201cWhile consent may seem a simple concept to most, there continues to be a lack of awareness, respect and understanding about what it really means, as evidenced by the many prosecutions through our courts every year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople need to understand sex without consent is rape \u2013 and that includes within a relationship. There is no justification and no excuses. Consent impacts everyone, from married couples and friends through to new and long-term partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Louise Graham, Sexual Violence Lead for the Nottinghamshire Crime and Drugs Partnership at Nottingham City Council, said: \u201cThe Nottingham Consent Coalition recognises how important it is to educate each other on consent and challenge sexual violence myths and behaviours. The more you know, the more you can influence positive change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are really proud that Nottingham is adopting a zero tolerance stance towards sexual violence by sharing the \u2018A-Z of Consent\u2019 campaign in such visible public spaces, like the NET tram and NCT buses.\u00a0 By raising the awareness of consent, we can start to create a culture where consent is at the centre of all relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTES TO EDITORS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The A-Z of Consent is hosted on Consent Coalitions website, where visitors can find a downloadable poster for each letter and more information about each theme.<\/p>\n<p>All the A-Z of Consent posters and resources can be downloaded for free and be shared locally, regionally and nationally.<\/p>\n<p>The Coalition are active on social media and you can share their work from there too.<\/p>\n<p>As with all good things consent is based around communication.
