East Midlands Children and Young Peoples Sexual Assault Service (EMCYPSAS) Senior Crisis Support Worker – Fixed term to 31 March 2023 – £25,991 per annum plus £35.00 per on-call shift

 

Employed by Notts SVS Services, working in partnership with Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, this is an exciting opportunity to provide senior crisis support worker support to the crisis support worker team, children, young people and their families who are accessing services at the Nottinghamshire Hub of the EMCYPSAS and across the East Midlands.

 

Location
Based at the EMCYPSAS, Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and Notts SVS Services City Centre Head Office. Some working from home is required during the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

Hours of work
37.5 hours per week. Minimum of 5 shifts per week, including some evening and weekend shifts.

The role will cover a variety of shifts which will be agreed in advance monthly to cover the 24/7 rota.

 

The shifts will range from Monday to Sunday shifts with shift times including:

  • 9am – 4:30pm
  • Overnight on-call 10pm – 6am
  • 9:30am – 4:30pm
  • 4:30pm – 10pm
  • 6am – 9:30am

Job purpose
The experienced Senior Children and Young Person’s Crisis Support Worker will provide sensitive, client-centred, non–judgmental support to survivors, aged 17 and under, of sexual violence.  This will include providing advocacy support for clients during forensic medical examinations. The Senior Crisis Support Worker will be responsible for a team of Crisis Support Workers.

 

Responsibilities

  • To work as part of the initial response team of clinicians, forensic physicians, police officers and EMCYPSAS management team to deliver a high standard of service for clients referred to EMCYPSAS by the Police or who self-refer.
  • To supervise a team of Crisis Support Workers.
  • To be responsible for thorough  forensic cleaning of the forensic suites prior to and following a  forensic  medical examination.
  • To provide cover for EMCYPSAS helpline and Email contacts, answering calls and responding to Emails, acting as a first point of contact, providing information and support on topics relating to sexual violence to clients, families and carers and professionals who call the helpline or send emails and responding to the needs of clients who self-refer.

 

Essential experience, qualifications and skills

 

  • NPPVL2 Nottinghamshire Police Vetting which allows them to work in the East Midlands Children and Young Peoples Sexual Assault Service
  • Evidence of extensive experience managing a team
  • Evidence of extensive experience working with Children and Young People
  • A clear understanding of managing safeguarding concerns
  • In-depth knowledge of issues experienced by children and young people and in particular in relation to sexual violence and the barriers they may experience in accessing services
  • Experience of working in a supportive role providing information and/or support work and completing holistic risk and needs assessments and making safeguarding referrals
  • Experience of organising and prioritising a complex workload, working to tight deadlines and being self-servicing in administrative duties
  • Experience of communicating clearly, concisely and diplomatically with a wide range of people and agencies, both verbally via telephone, face-to-face, professional’s meetings etc. and in writing via briefings, reports, letter writing, email etc.
