International Day For the Elimination of Violence Against Women
International Day for the elimination of violence against women also marks the launch of 16 Days of activism against gender-based violence.
Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread and devastating human rights violations in our world today. It often goes unreported because of stigma, shame or indifference.
Violence against women and girls takes different forms. It can be physical or sexual. It can also be psychological. It includes:
- domestic violence
- sexual violence and harassment
- female genital mutilation
- so-called ‘honour based’ abuse
- human trafficking
- forced marriage
Building a culture of consent and respect is crucial in eliminating violence against women and girls.
The Consent Coalition stands together to say that Nottingham does not tolerate any form of sexual violence
