Welcome to the Change, Grow, Live (CYP team)

We are thrilled to welcome Change, Grow Live (CGL)’s Children and Young People team to the Consent Coalition.

CGL is a specialist charity providing free, confidential and non-judgemental support for people affected by drug and alcohol use. Their children and young people’s work focuses on helping young people stay safe, understand risk, access support and build the confidence to make positive choices.  Their services support young people who are affected by their own substance use, as well as those impacted by someone else’s drug and/or alcohol use.

CGL’s mission is to empower and promote positive change for the people of Nottinghamshire, by educating, encouraging, and supporting them to make informed decisions to reach their full potential. Through their work, CGL recognises the importance of creating opportunities for open, positive conversations about consent, healthy relationships, personal boundaries, respect and choice. They see every day how these conversations can help young people build confidence, develop resilience and make informed decisions that support their wellbeing and future aspirations.

Reflecting on what joining the Coalition means in practice, one team member shared:

“I hope that through being part of the Consent Coalition, I will develop greater knowledge, skills, resources and confidence, which will strengthen my ability to empower the young people I work with. I aim to be better equipped to support them in making strong, healthy choices around consent, and to help them confidently set and respect personal boundaries.”

Charmayne O’Sullivan, Team Leader, also highlighted the team’s shared commitment:

“We are delighted to be joining the Nottinghamshire Consent Coalition and standing alongside other organisations that are committed to promoting respect, healthy relationships and a clear understanding of consent. As a team working with young people, we have a responsibility to help create safe spaces where important conversations can happen. By becoming supporters of the Coalition, we are strengthening our commitment to equipping young people with the knowledge, confidence and understanding they need to make informed choices, respect boundaries and build healthy relationships throughout their lives.”

We are excited to work alongside CGL Children and Young People team as they continue supporting young people to feel heard, respected, informed and empowered across Nottinghamshire.
