Remedi Joins the Consent Coalition

We are pleased to share that Remedi has signed up as a supporter of the Consent Coalition.

Remedi are a charity that has been at the forefront of the development and delivery of Restorative Justice, services and training since 1996.

Shared Aims

Remedi takes a restorative approach in all areas of their work and have successfully developed innovative and hugely impactful Victim support services, Mentoring initiatives for all ages, Family support and Conflict Resolution interventions and a wide array of Educational programmes.

Remedi empowers victims/survivors to be heard, to access support and make claims to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).  Their work with adult offenders serving community or custodial sentences, includes victim awareness and empathic thinking, clearly aligning with coalition aims of understanding, empathy and challenge.

Empowering People, Changing Lives

Restorative Justice is always voluntary, impartial and supportive.  There is no pressure to take part.  One survivor of rape shared ‘I have heard people say RJ isn’t wanted by people who suffered my offence.  Well it was for me.’  While another service user shared that ‘RJ has opened my eyes to the pain I caused,’

Remedi’s work is highlighted in the play ‘PUNCH’ where they facilitated restorative justice in a manslaughter case.  The unique relationship developed between the victim’s mother and the Nottingham-based perpetrator leading to preventative work shared across the UK.

Over 650,000 people have benefitted from Remedi so far.  They hold the national contract for Restorative Justice in Homicide cases and their training has been provided internationally, most recently for the United Nations.

A Shared Commitment to Change

“At the Consent Coalition, we know that talking about consent and sexual violence changes lives.  We all deserve to be a part of these conversations.  Remedi’s commitment to sharing our messages and resources will ensure that an often-missed group of people will be empowered to make positive change.”  Karen Jardine (Consent Coalition)

Remedi are proud to become an official supporter of the Nottinghamshire Consent Coalition. We are committed to working collaboratively with partners to drive positive change and stand united in promoting the message that Nottinghamshire does not tolerate any form of sexual violence.

Nicola Fowler (Remedi Assistant Director)
