Broxtowe Youth Homelessness Joins the Consent Coalition

We are proud to announce that Broxtowe Youth Homelessness (BYH) has joined the Consent Coalition.  This partnership strengthens our shared commitment to promoting consent, respect, and safe relationships for young people across Nottinghamshire.

Broxtowe Youth Homelessness is a highly respected local service.  They support young people aged 16–25 who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or in need of tenancy‑related support. Their work includes mediation, tenancy training, and a drop‑in service, with their Care 2 Work project supporting care‑experienced young people as they move towards independence. BYH also provides practical and wellbeing‑focused courses such as Living Independently and Personal Emotional Resilience, as well as food and toiletry parcels and Home Starter Packs.

A central part of BYH’s approach is homelessness prevention. Their Home Street Home project sees trained peer educators working in secondary schools to raise awareness of homelessness risk factors. This work supports young people to recognise when they may be at risk and to access the right support as early as possible.

A Shared Commitment to Consent and Healthy Relationships

Young people facing complex and overlapping challenges are often at increased risk of harm. Access to clear, trusted information about healthy relationships, consent, and personal boundaries is vital—particularly where there might a greater risk of unhealthy relationships, exploitation or abuse.

Reflecting on the importance of this partnership, the Consent Coalition shared:

“We are thrilled to welcome Broxtowe Youth Homelessness to the Consent Coalition. This important service carries out vital work supporting and advocating for young people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness.  Their decision to join the coalition highlights the power of frontline services standing together to promote consent, respect, and safety.

Through collaboration, we can strengthen our reach and impact and ensure that young people are supported not only through practical help, but with the knowledge, confidence, and agency they need to build equal relationships and stay safe. We are proud to work alongside Broxtowe Youth Homelessness sharing safe, trustworthy, and healthy information on consent, reinforcing a clear commitment to challenging sexual violence.” (Steph, Consent Coalition County Coordinator).

For Broxtowe Youth Homelessness, joining the Consent Coalition is not simply symbolic. It represents an ongoing commitment to learning, reflection, and action, and to embedding a culture where respect, understanding, and safety are the norm.

“The partnership strengthens our ability to provide meaningful support, equipping young people with the tools they need to build positive, healthy relationships and navigate the world with confidence.”

Strengthening Local Partnerships in Nottinghamshire

We are especially pleased to welcome BYH as the first organisation signed up by Steph, our new Consent Coalition County Coordinator.  This marks an important milestone in the Coalition’s work across Nottinghamshire.

We look forward to working closely with Broxtowe Youth Homelessness as part of our growing network of organisations committed to preventing sexual violence through promoting consent and safe, positive relationships.
