Notts SVSS Commissioned to Run Survivor Hub
Nottinghamshire Sexual Violence Support Services win bid for Survivor Hub
Notts SVS Services are delighted to have been commissioned to provide the new Adult Sexual Violence Survivor Hub and Therapy Support Service in Nottinghamshire. The funding will last for a period of three years with a possible extension of a further two years. This is important news for adult survivors of sexual violence as it will ensure the long-term security, development and expansion of support services available to them.
The Survivor Hub will provide a specialist single point of access for adult survivors accessible by telephone, e-mail or web-chat functions. The service will support all adults living in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, who have been sexually assaulted, raped or abused, whether recently or in the past. People will not need to have reported to the police to get support.
The hub, which has been jointly funded by the PCC, local authorities and clinical commissioning groups has been co-designed with survivors. It will enable a seamless referral pathway through to our specialist support services, including counselling, group support and ISVA services, and into external services such as the Nottinghamshire SARC, drug & alcohol services, sexual health services, welfare and benefits. A mental health nurse will be joining our team to conduct mental health assessments and enable access into secondary mental health care services.
Paddy Tipping said: “Survivors are at the heart of this new service and have contributed to its design and delivery from the very beginning.
“It makes perfect sense to coordinate help from a central hub to ensure survivors are spared further stress or anxiety in accessing support at what is already a traumatic time.
“Recovery can be a long and complex process and survivors must have confidence that the services coming to their aid are available for the long haul. The priority of all partners will be to make sure this happens.”
Novlet Holness, Chief Executive Officer at Notts SVS Services said “we are delighted to have been commissioned to provide the new Adult Sexual Violence Survivor Hub and Therapy Support Service in Nottinghamshire. Notts SVS Services has been supporting survivors for nearly 40 years and is a multi-award winning service, we receive consistently good feedback across all our services.
A key focus of the tender application was around survivor engagement, raising awareness and ensuring equitable access and this will be a key factor in the development and ongoing nature of the Hub. We are looking forward to working with survivors, commissioners and partner agencies. Together we will ensure that survivors are able to access the services they need and in the way most suitable to them.
We would like to thank the commissioners for providing this long term funding which will ensure ongoing, high quality support, empowering adult victims and survivors to recover from the harm they have experienced and with greater resilience”
