Our new range of posters help to show that no matter what happened, or when, we are here to listen to you, believe you and support you.
Designed to be discreet and based around our central aim to listen, believe and support, our posters look at different circumstances that might make a person want to contact our service. They detail some of the thoughts a victim-survivor might have and the barriers that might stop them getting support.
Feedback
The posters were created after research and in consultation with survivors, groups and staff. They are designed to be gently engaging but non-threatening in impact. We avoided using photos and shocking images. Instead we chose hand-drawings of objects like a phone, a games console or a cup of tea. Hand-written phrases are included like ‘They told me no-one would believe me’ and ‘I just want to ask some questions and see what you think’. They are designed so that they can be seen across a room whilst at the same time discreet in their message. All posters carry a QR code that can be scanned in passing.
Suitable for all survivors
The range of posters is deliberately broad to make it easier for groups and organisations to find ones that are more relevant to them. Sharon, our Engagement Manager explains that ‘through our engagement work we have heard from groups about barriers and challenges to accessing support and through our helpline we often hear of the struggle and uncertainties associated with making the first call.
‘We have tried to bring that learning together to create posters that will connect with anyone who might be thinking of reaching out for support. We know how hard it can be to ask for help, and especially so for anyone facing additional challenges. We want to say that we are here for everyone.’
While most posters depict the thoughts and feelings survivors might have pre-support, we have included three with quotes from people who have used our service. Because we want to share that, no matter what happened, recovery is possible.
