Statement on the Supreme Court ruling on the Equality Act
Notts SVSS are proud to support survivors of sexual violence aged 18 and above, and this includes people who are trans.
We know that the Supreme Court ruling on the Equality Act has been distressing for trans communities, with media reporting and public reactions causing more fear and uncertainty. It is important to remember that the Supreme Court reaffirmed that the Equality Act protects trans people against discrimination based on gender reassignment and will continue to do so.
At Notts SVSS we value and appreciate everyone who comes to us asking for support and believe the things they tell us. Our services are inclusive and affirming and we will continue to offer safe spaces to men, women, trans, non-binary and intersex people who come to us for counselling, advocacy and support. Our Trans Inclusion Policy is available on our website.
