Award for our ‘Exceptional’ ISVA Team

 In News

We are very pleased to be awarded a Lime Culture Award for being an ‘Exceptional ISVA Team.’ Lime Culture are the organisation who have trained all our ISVAs (Independent Sexual Violence Advisors) who help support people who are accessing or considering accessing the Criminal Justice System (CJS) or who are applying for Criminal Injuries Compensation.

This award follows excellent outcomes for survivors accessing our service last year, including:

  • Supporting 781 people
  • Supporting clients in court, leading to 80% of defendants being found guilty or pleading guilty to a variety of sexual offences including rape.
  • Total amount of CICA compensation awarded of over £200,000
  • Dedicated support for survivors of institutional abuse
  • Support for survivors who are in prison

As well as providing support through the CJS, which can include accompanying clients on pre-trial visits and support in court during the trial, our ISVAs also provide practical help dealing with issues around safeguarding, housing, education, financial, health, mental health and emotional wellbeing. The service can be provided from our base in Nottingham and at outreach appointments in Mansfield, Newark and Retford.

Our ISVA team, which has also received additional funding to increase staff working with clients, has also been commended by the CPS.

In presenting this award Lime Culture said “All the teams nominated for this award demonstrate an exceptional level of support to their clients and fellow team members. In recognition of this and the outstanding support offered by this team to those in prison and those who have been involved in institutional abuse cases, the award goes to Notts SVS Services’ ISVA team.”

Understandably, we are very proud of our ISVA team, as we are the whole of our service which has also received the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Partnership Award, for our outstanding work in partnership with other agencies.
